Let Hunting.....er...Intern Season Begin!

As commencement season wraps up, there's only one thing Washingtonians fear more than tourists....interns. Finally a blog has been created to commiserate together and swap sighting stories. This post was just too funny not to steal!

Heard: Newsworthy Celebrity

Traveling home one evening on Metro a notable news reporter was standing near me. As a courtesy, everyone was adhering to proper Metro conduct by leaving him alone and minding their own business. An intern was also standing near by and quite obviously staring at him. He noticed her and very politely said, "May I help you miss?" Her trance broken, she blushed and replied, "Oh no, I'm sorry, you just look a lot like my favorite reporter." He smiled and jokingly said, "Well is he at least handsome?" Her response was, "Well I think so, but my friends don't. And they all tell me he's gay anyway." He smirked and the conversation ended. Anderson Cooper left our train at the next stop.
I thought the lady behind me was going to die laughing. The intern never figured it out.

"I've-tried-4-million-times-but-you-still haven't-returned-my-phone-call"

From the Frontlines: (The Jen never answers my phone call but still considers me one of her best friends support group)

Aly: Ha! Some of us are veterans of 10+ years in the "maybe, please god, maybe the 15th time is my lucky charm" category!

Matt: Now I love Jen to death. She has always been one of my closest friends...I have known Jen Richer for almost 20 years (true story) and I can say without a doubt that she is by far the most difficult person on the face of the planet to get in touch with. When you do finally get her to answer the phone she suddenly has to run and then says "I will call you back"...I can say again without pause, don't wait by your phone. I can't begin to tell you the number of messages I have left for her. She even admits that she is horrible at it. So trust me. I win as far as number of times I left a message but never got a call...

John: I never claimed to think I was the only one you ignored when I wrote you a note. I have complained about this before, and you told me that Lindsay complained about the same thing all the time! It's interesting how you take this character flaw of YOURS, and spin it into a quirky little thing that your FRIENDS obsess over. Great spin, Jenny. You oughta work in DC!

After you've read it, please respond below the post with your best "I've-tried-4-million-times-but-you-still haven't-returned-my-phone-call" Jen Story. He thinks he's discovered something new. I am trying to prove there is an entire community of you out there.

John: when you get home tonight, talk to your fellow copians about improving your communications skills! homework!

me: if by communications you mean spelling there's no hope for me

John: I could write a novel about you, and I might STILL never directly hear from you ever again...I must sound like your mother, but too damn bad!

me: I am so blogging about this

So my mentor and former boss with whom I am still very close to made the great digital leap last year and finally joined the digital community that I am so wholeheartedly plugged into (blog, gmail, facebook, etc.)

Today, we were chatting on gchat because like so many of you, there is no way in hell I could squeeze even a 5 min. phone call in with my overwhelming to do list.

But with the power of gchat I am somewhat more accessible. I am such fan of these plateforms because where I fail at staying connected, they pick up the slack.

What he thinks is a unique discovery, you all have expressed (often heatedly) as a true JEN-ISM.

By this point you know it's not possible to hurt my feelings so please be as graphic as necessary.

What Are You Drinking!?!

"What are you drinking, ew!"

That's usually the first response I get as I nurse my Naked Juice: Green Machine fruit juice cocktail.

I'll admit, it really does look like a cross between pond scum and monster vomit, but it is so tasty, and good for you!

So when I saw Catherine Banning, a main character from Thomas Crown Affair drinking it, I recognized it immediately. Yesterday, while trying to find the soundtrack for the movie I stumbled across this blog dedicated to TCA trivia and of course put my two cents in!

Made The Morning Reading List!

Alright... who blabbed.....

From the Fishbowl DC

Morning Reading List, 12.12.08

Eight years ago, the Supreme Court stopped the presidential recount in Florida, effectively making Republican George W. Bush the winner. Ed Koch is 84 today. Frank Sinatra was born on this day in 1915 (you hear that Doug and Peter?) You are downright pessimistic about the journalism job market. Today is the birthday of 630 WMAL's Chris Plante and Jen Richer. Ever want to know who owns MeetThePress.com? Slate contemplates "The State of the Cookie." DC Concierge provides a guide to "The DC Singles Scene." Defamer presents, "The Best Letterman Interviews of 2008." Lifehacker asks, "What's the Last Thing You Want to Hear After You've Been Laid Off?" And Slate contemplates "Layoff Spin." Check out today's White House Photo of the Day from Time. Today's "Angry Journalist" rant of the day: "The executive editor spends more time blogging and getting into comment section pissing matches than inspiring decent journalism."
