Wednesday Brain Tease

Look at these signs very carefully. Now if it is 7pm on Sunday evening....which side of the post can you park on?

****SPOILER ALERT****

Look at Sign #2. Linds and I nearly left the car to the right of this post, but luckily a good Samaritan tapped on the window and pointed it out to us. He nearly did the same thing, and sure enough, the cars behind us all had tickets. We payed it forward just in time to warn a fellow parker before he made the same mistake.

Peanuts, Cracker Jacks, and Flash Floods?

The DC Alumnae chapter of Sigma Kappa met up at the Nat's game only to be surprised by a flash flood.

Ladies and Gents Step Right up...We Have a Sucker!

Ugh I hate to admit this but after months of defiantly ignoring the buzz of the DC Real World circus, I finally have been sucked in. Don't get me wrong, I love me some junk reality tv (did anyone say Real Housewives?) but I'm not going to lie, I think I'm hooked (don't worry John - not LOST hooked, just enough to not gag every time it's mentioned in a conversation.)

There was a story this morning in the Reliable Source about a Bethesda woman signing the waiver while intoxicated, and now she's suing. Apparently, while she was trying to lure a cast member away from his girlfriend, she came off as a bit snarky to say the least. So here I am, 6 am in the newsroom, reading the original filing trying to track down the appearance on mtv.com.

Thank goodness they post the episodes in full online - but because I have no frame of reference.  I had to sift through the episodes and babaBLAM - that's when I was sucked into the black hole of another junk tv show. Sucker! It's not even that good - it's like watching sophomore year all over again only this time as the outsider.

Looks like I will be loading this crap onto my ipod for my flight next week. I have 20 hours to kill after all. (DC to Hawaii for Carlys Grad+ Hawaii to San Diego for Rachael's Wedding+ San Diego to DC for reality= 20.)

This one kills me - for all you fellow wonks - just watch the kid in the WH briefing room - Gates is going right over his head. Flashbacks of my Freshman year culture shock. (Then you realize everyone has a one-sheet at their finger tips. That comes senior year.) And he had the opportunity to do a poli-toon for the now defunct Washington Times. Dun Dun Dunnnnn. For the Digi kids in the house - I know you're thinking it too -way to reach out to the dead-tree versions kid - where is your millennial ingenuity!

Let Hunting.....er...Intern Season Begin!

As commencement season wraps up, there's only one thing Washingtonians fear more than tourists....interns. Finally a blog has been created to commiserate together and swap sighting stories. This post was just too funny not to steal!

Heard: Newsworthy Celebrity

Traveling home one evening on Metro a notable news reporter was standing near me. As a courtesy, everyone was adhering to proper Metro conduct by leaving him alone and minding their own business. An intern was also standing near by and quite obviously staring at him. He noticed her and very politely said, "May I help you miss?" Her trance broken, she blushed and replied, "Oh no, I'm sorry, you just look a lot like my favorite reporter." He smiled and jokingly said, "Well is he at least handsome?" Her response was, "Well I think so, but my friends don't. And they all tell me he's gay anyway." He smirked and the conversation ended. Anderson Cooper left our train at the next stop.
I thought the lady behind me was going to die laughing. The intern never figured it out.

Like Porn For Techies

It's like porn for techies...no not pocket protectors - FOSE. It's one event that supernerds come out of the basement for, like Macworld is to San Francisco, ITEX is to Vegas, FOSE is to Washington DC. It's were vendors come to unvail the latest technology before governement contractors and burocrats alike in hopes to snag some of those tax dollars, and we hypergeeks eat it up. We plugged in for a street talk.

GW Shout Out, Love NCIS

Why is there no J Street in Washington DC? NCIS asks that very question, but in the process, gives GW a little shout out!
